Rubus arcticus ssp acaulis

'moose skull lake' Mendenhall. YukonJune 20 2008

Rubus arcticus ssp acaulis
Rosaceae Rose family
In one source i find its common name is Nagoon berry.

I don't have a photo from the berry yet, it's a raspberry and tasty it is.

Rubus - raspberry - red
arcticus - northern
acaulis - no stem

Well, it does have a stem, but the flower doesn't overtop the leaves.

I live in a very suburban area, with houses crammed next to each other on 50 foot by 100 foot lots. Even so, I've managed to get blackberries a few years (they get so messy, with so little space) and made a great jam with them. A few years ago, a mulberry self-seeded from a helpful passing bird; now, I'm hoping to get some mulberry jam this year!

I really have to admire the tenacity of Sue. I haven't been able to get much to grow since we moved here last year. Herbs do great here but that is all.
